Is Himalayan Salt really the best for you?

ShareIf you heard that “real” salt was not white, you probably would not believe it.

That’s because table salt has surrounded us for generations as the most readily available salt.

However, this common, chemically-refined, white substance is merely a hazardous shell of what true salt is and can be. Although it has been around for over 250 million years, Himalayan crystal salt and its overwhelming health benefits are only now becoming widely known.

Nevertheless, replacing refined salt with Himalayan salt can quickly and effectively restore your health.

Warning: This product may contain Refined Salt

Try your best to forget all that you thought you knew about commercial table salt, because none of it is true. Refined table salt is chemically cleaned of all trace elements except for sodium and chloride and heat-treated. Then harmful preservatives, like calcium carbonate, magnesium carbonate, and aluminum hydroxide, are added to prevent the sodium chloride from clumping.

Beware of common salt

Moreover, salt manufacturers add iodine and fluoride to refined salt in an effort to promote table salt as necessary for healthy living.

But, refined salt’s exposure to heat actually alters its chemical structure making it practically impossible for your body to absorb anything. On the contrary, you can get iodine from foods other than salt, such as seafood and dairy products; and, research continues to reveal the many toxic effects of fluoride.

Why is Table Salt dangerous?

Similar to high fructose corn syrup, refined salt lies hidden in processed foods. This means many individuals consume anywhere from 4,000 to 10,000 mg of salt per day and they are completely unaware. This excessive consumption can cause:

  • Alzheimer Disease
  • Arthritis
  • Cellulite
  • Cellular dehydration
  • Edema
  • Gout
  • High blood pressure
  • Kidney or gallbladder stones
  • Thyroid dysfunction

Himalayan Crystal Salt—the superior salt

The good news is that you do not have to give up salt completely—just change it. Himalayan crystal salt is the purest and most natural salt on earth. As its name indicates, Himalayan salt comes from the Himalayan Mountains and contains all 84 of the minerals and elements your body needs!

What makes Himalayan salt superior is its crystalline structure, which can be readily absorbed by the body. The only treatment this salt undergoes is gentle hand washing, so its structure is not disturbed and it does not contain any toxins or pollutants. As a result, Himalayan salt:

  • Reduces aging
  • Maintains libido
  • Strengthens bones
  • Prevents muscle cramps
  • Regulates the sleep cycle
  • Aids in nutrient absorption
  • Balances blood sugar levels
  • Supports body water balance
  • Restores acid-alkaline balance
  • Clears sinus and lung congestion
  • Normalises heart beat and blood pressure

What about Sea Salt?

Sea salt has emerged as a popular alternative to refined salt; nevertheless, not all sea salt is safe for consumption. Thanks to toxic and chemical waste dumping much of today’s natural sea salt is polluted and not as pure as earlier times.  Also sea salt has recently been shown to contain particles of plastic! Consequently, sea salt manufacturers attempt to remove pollutants from sea salt, which renders sea salt nearly as void of nutritional benefit as refined salt.

Eat it or soak in it, it’s up to you!

In addition to eating Himalayan crystal salt, you can add it to your bath water for an amazing mineral bath. Just ‘Ask a Naturopath’ for more tips or information on using Himalayan salt.
